Workshops

We conduct regular specialised workshops to help you develop specific freediving skills. Each workshop focuses on a particular discipline or technique, with theory, dry training and in-water practice.

Monofin Workshop

Freediver gliding underwater with a monofin during a workshop session

Fast, fluid and efficient is how most people would describe freediving with a monofin. This individualised workshop will help you to understand the movement mechanics of the dolphin kick and how to apply that to your stroke in order to get the most distance out of your monofin. There will be a short theory and dry training session followed by 2 hours in the pool for practice and stroke analysis. The following topics will be covered:

  • Anatomical breakdown of the dolphin kick
  • Dry training exercises to condition the body for an efficient dolphin kick
  • Body position in the water
  • In-water drills to develop an efficient kick
  • Finning technique analysis using instant video playback

No-Fins Workshop

Freediver swimming underwater without fins during a no-fins workshop

Often said to be the purest form of freediving, the no-fins stroke is the most technical of the freediving disciplines. Most people find this the most enjoyable freediving discipline after becoming proficient in the technique, but it requires time, effort and a lot of training to master.

In this workshop, learn to propel yourself efficiently underwater using your own body power. We start with a short theory and dry training session followed by 2 hours in the pool for practice and stroke analysis. The following topics will be covered:

  • Breakdown of the no-fins technique
  • Dry training exercises to gain the flexibility required for this stroke
  • Training drills to develop an efficient arm stroke and leg kick
  • Ideal weighting and the perfect gliding position
  • Efficient turning technique and maximising your wall kick-off
  • Stroke analysis using instant video playback
